A Litany of Things...
Here's a litany of things not worth a post, but nevertheless worth a mention...
- In stunningly good news for PJP: our pie press company has confirmed that a die for the new non-glass jelly jars CAN be made...for the low price of $687. You know what? TAKE MY MONEY. There are placeholders in the history of every company that ultimately end up to be long-term game changers...and not hand rolling out dough for jars may rise to that level in PJP history. One day, I'll insist upon a dramatic pause by the tour guide of PJP headquarters during this part of our story.
- The lead time in production for the die is six to eight weeks, which is only disappointing in that a company ordered 420 jars to be shipped out next Tuesday as early July 4th holiday gifts to their clients all over the country. That said, we will happily accept delivery whenever it is ready and we are already planning a welcome home party. In the meantime, we be rollin'...
- Speaking of July 4th, we strongly encourage pre-orders for pickup on July 3rd for your holiday celebrations. As is our tradition, we will be closed July 4th for the holiday and also July 5th because we will be tired from late-night fireworks and shenanigans. In the smallest ways, entrepreneurship has it's perks that way.
- Speaking of entrepreneurship, I've been in a deep binge of How I Built This on NPR after taking a hiatus earlier this year to catch up on all sorts of other podcasts. Nothing has made me feel more normal as a human being than listening to the founders of major corporations explain that they, on occasion, had no idea what they were doing and their self-confidence was low as they figured out how to move their company forward. On the Panera episode, founder Ron Shaich says he thinks about Panera in every single thing he does. Preach it, Ron. I get it.
- And in case all this discussion of pie presses, closing for a day so we can all stay up late, and podcast obsession hasn't made you feel like I'm 87 years old...please know I stayed up until 1:30 am on Sunday to finish reading a 600 page biography of Prince Charles. And by the end? I was sort of pro-Camilla and definitely left with a new perspective on the Prince of Wales. I wonder if he has a podcast available for download...
