Audacity
Earlier today, there was some sort of emergency at Wendy’s that required a fire truck and an ambulance. Both had full lights and sirens on and the ambulance backed up to the back of the restaurant. We have no idea what happened - and hopefully all is fine - but the point of this is to tell you that PEOPLE JUST KEPT USING THE DRIVE-THRU. Cars just kept lining up to purchase value meals despite all the emergency response. Not to drag on Wendy’s, but I feel like PJP fans would offer assistance in the face of emergency instead of rolling through EMS response in order to get to pie on a Thursday afternoon. That said, we do have the best customers ever.
Here’s a few other thoughts about things that don’t really matter:
Food brokers have a lot of rules, but mainly that you have to order 15 cases of product and have a minimum of $500 spent. The $500 is literally never a problem because inflation hits all levels of the supply chain, but occasionally the 15 cases causes an issue. For the past few weeks, one vendor has shorted us an item out of stock and that drops us to 14 cases and so they just cancel the truck. Can you believe the audacity to cancel a truck with several thousand dollars of groceries because it is one case short because that one case item was out of stock? Me either.
We are ramping up for the busy fall season by doing things we ignored all year. Earlier this week, Jason replaced the nozzle sprayer at Nifong and we’ve literally never been more excited. You wouldn’t believe how much a blown out nozzle spray slows you down. There hasn’t been a single Team PJP member who has done dishes at Nifong this week who hasn’t had their entire day made by the discovery of the new sprayer.
And because we are the place where dreams come true, we also had a plumber replace the faucet on another sink so that it doesn’t drip incessantly. That has really brought so much joy to my heart this week.
The latest issue of Inside Columbia arrived this week. There is a story about fall desserts and we provided three pies to be photographed and they looked great. But then I noticed PJP wasn’t given credit for the pies in the photograph. The table runner and napkins in the picture are credited to the local store who donated them to the shoot, but the pies aren’t. I suppose the nice thing to say is that I’m not irritated…but actually, I am. Team PJP made three beautiful pies in August specifically for the event and we provided them at no cost, so I think credit is probably due.
But speaking of credit where it is due, one of our Team PJP members also makes amazing cakes for all sorts of occasions. She’s quickly become our favorite cake baker for our family and so when I told her that Jeanne LOVES white cake with buttercream frosting with tons and tons and tons of frosting flowers, she completely outdid herself and made Jeanne’s birthday extra special.
