Awesome

Well, I was pretty silent here last week because there wasn’t much to report - we basically went to our stores, made a lot of things, and went home. We are at the time of year where we start in the dark and then end in the dark and that makes for a lot of boring content. But give it time and here we are with enough updates worth discussing, so here we go:

  1. We’ve received two $20 counterfeit bills in the past week - one at each store. In both cases, the person purchased a $2.50 greeting card and paid with the phony $20 and left with the $17 in change. Actually, it was an impressive counterfeit. Only because the person seemed anxious and the transaction seemed odd did we notice that the texture of the bill was a little different. We weren’t even 100% certain it was counterfeit until the bank confirmed it. Apparently, the bank reports there has been a rash of counterfeits in Columbia and that a counterfeit pen doesn’t work on it. AWESOME.

  2. Tomorrow, a group of us at PJP Nifong are dressing up at the characters from Steel Magnolias. I’ve done some crazy things at PJP, but I’m guessing that making the entire nut table baking schedule while dressed as Truvy will be at the top of the list. She does have two locations of Truvy’s Hair Salon and I have two PJPs, so that tracks.

  3. After Halloween tomorrow, we are in a straight shot to Thanksgiving. I haven’t even looked in Jason’s database to see an order number as of today, partly because I’m worried it will be less than last year and partly because I’m worried it will be more than last year. I’ll be stressed either way because I’m very charming that way.

  4. Last week, we wrapped up our last Epic Pie Tasting of the year. The winner was a Nutella pie - It was a combination of cream cheese, powdered sugar, and Nutella. We thought it was delicious and weren’t surprised to see it score the highest. The low score went to Jalapeno Blackberry and honestly, are you surprised?

  5. And finally, the landlord sawed down the tree outside PJP Nifong with no explanation. Personally, I liked the tree but it did impede the visibility of our sign. But whether I liked it or not, I’m certain we will be charged $43.694 in tree removal charges in the January common area maintenance charges.
