Best Version...
So here we are in 2019 and tomorrow, we are back at it at PJP Buttonwood on our regular routine. And here is a confession…I have a heap of garden variety anxiety about getting back in the groove. And I couldn’t even begin to tell you why, since I helped create this whole thing and I’m co-captain of the PJP ship. I can promise you that Jeanne finished out her binge of Instant Hotel on Netflix in complete peace and contentment tonight while I’m just over here stewing away about nothing in particular. So as we head forth into the first business day of the year for PJP, here’s a few things to note:
Today I did focus on answering all the emails that have been sitting my inbox for the last few weeks under the guise of we-are-busy-before-Christmas and then the I’m-off-the-grid-for-break excuses. And then I even initiated some emails, because it is the second day of the new year and I’m still convinced I’ll be the best version of myself in 2019.
I also drank 88 ounces of water, which is approximately 87 more ounces than I normally drink. Because I’m still convinced I’ll be the best version of myself in 2019.
I set some lofty sales goals in my shiny new planner, calculating what 5% and 7% increases over 2018 look like for each month of the year. And I wrote some reminders and some ideas for PJP down on the assumption I’ll still be using the planner in four weeks. Because I’m still convinced I’ll be the best version of myself in 2019.
And then I made a to-do list for tomorrow because in my time away from PJP, I’ve realized how distracted I get during the day by everything going on in the store and then none of the things I needed to do actually get done. Behind-the-Scenes Jason suggested I make a list each day for the next day of my goals, so I tried it out…and included the 88 ounces of water. Because I’m still convinced I’ll be the best version of myself in 2019.
Finally, I did some research and some work on some ideas for PJP that have been floating around in my head during all of our busy fall months. And I took notes and told myself I could have all that accomplished by March. Easily. Because I’m still convinced I’ll be the best version of myself in 2019.
So that’s it, I think. Drop by in the next few days while you have a chance to encounter us at our very best for the entire year. If you see my water bottle and planner out on the front counter, you’ll know you’ve made it in time…
