Captain Jeanne

Today I wrote a check to the Missouri Department of Employment Security for SIX CENTS. And if anything makes a statement about American entrepreneurship in early 2021, it is writing a check to the government for SIX CENTS.

Here’s what else is going on now that we are back into a non-frenetic post holiday routine:

  1. I really hate January. Spoiler alert: everyone in retail really hates January.

  2. But we did use our extra time this week to our advantage by doing a deep clean of PJP. Over the course of a week in December, we had 1,000 shipping boxes and 400 Jelly Jars delivered. Oh, and all the supplies for our VU project. Our entire hallway has been packed full of stuff we’ve been too busy to deal with and my OCD has been suffering.

  3. We purchased 40 storage containers during our VU project to keep ourselves organized and yesterday we spent an hour matching containers to lids. Good times indeed.

  4. But we were also able to fully stock our freezer with three kinds of pot pie (chicken, southwest chicken, and beef) and three kinds of quiche (bacon, broccoli cheddar, and vegetable). Today is the fullest I’ve seen our freezer since October and it was a beautiful sight.

  5. And tomorrow I’m headed to Dallas for the winter gift market. Last year we journeyed to Atlanta, but chose Dallas this year for a change of pace and for a smaller market with less attendees during COVID. Last year Jeanne decided she was never again flying anywhere to go shopping for PJP all day, so she’s staying here and will be the solo captain of the ship. If you stop by and a member of Team PJP is hanging from the ceiling to get a deep clean on the ceiling tiles…well, you know why. CAPTAIN JEANNE.
