Drink the Kool-Aid

So, I finally drank the Kool-Aid from Jeanne and ordered the Bissell Crosswave Mop/Vacuum extravaganza. She has prosthelytized all the wonders of the ability to vacuum, mop, and dry with just one machine ever since it arrived on her doorstep a few weeks ago. On Sunday I had about 10.8 million chores to do and mopping was last on my list. I really, really, really just wanted to be done and sit down. That’s what broke me. And then of course, Amazon was out of stock - probably because Jeanne keeps discussing it with everyone - but I found it on Target.com and it arrives Thursday. I can’t even wait and if this already wasn’t the oddest year of my life, my excitement over a pricey vacuum seals the deal.

So here’s a few other things:

  1. We’ve been included in the Food Network’s list of best pies in America. We will happily take the accolade.

  2. We shipped pies last week to Elin Hilderbrand, a New York Times bestselling author. Her simple re-share of the jars on her Instastories resulted in A TON of new orders for us this week (and a lot of new followers too). It’s been a hot minute since we needed to break shipping into two days because of the number of boxes leaving the store. We are living our best shipping lives and hope all the recipients become new members of the World Pie Domination movement.

  3. Last week we had our semi-annual health inspection. I was actually on a Zoom call with Hoot Design, so Team PJP handled the inspection like the pros they are. They did come by my office window and mouth “THE HEALTH INSPECTOR IS HERE”. I would have hit a full tizzy to not be out there in the middle of it, but Jeanne is slowly turning me into her and we’ve been leaning in hard on the cleaning to-do lists and I knew were solid. And we were - no demerits. Whew.

  4. We have so much fall and Christmas merchandise arriving every day at the store. Since COVID ruined our summer gift market plans, this is mainly stuff we ordered way back in January before we knew this would be the weirdest year ever. The upside to it all though is that opening the shipping boxes is complete delight and surprise. Our current selves are pleased with our former January purchasing selves.

  5. And finally, we are starting to roll out some of the professional photos taken by Silverbox Photography. We included my daughter because her role as our Social Media Director and Merchandising Director has been nothing short of a joy to watch this summer. She’s only 15, but what is has brought to PJP is amazing. Now that the school year has started, she’s balancing merchandising, Instagramming, and a long afternoon of physics and algebra via Zoom. She’s pretty impressive that way. This is one of my favorite pictures taken by Silverbox because it captures us perfectly.
