Here's Hoping...
Hello from Atlanta, where it is NOT supposed to snow or ice tomorrow. Jeanne, my daughter, and I flew down today to spend the weekend shopping at the Atlanta Gift Mart for PJP Nifong. And if you really don’t get what the gift mart is, just think of three massive buildings 18 stories high full of just shopping. It is a dream come true or it is a nightmare, depending on who you ask. (Please note both my husband and Jeanne’s husband are safely ensconced in Columbia, lest they drag through the gift mart asking us what we need stuff for, how much it costs, and how much longer until we can find lunch.)
So today we flew from Kansas City to Atlanta and I guess I didn’t really think about how long it has been since Jeanne had flown because she was BLOWN AWAY by the movie options available to watch with Delta’s $2 earbuds. She settled in to watch Downton Abbey, but then was indignant that we landed before the end of the movie. (On the other hand, I watched Peanut Butter Falcon and it was excellent…and ended while we waited a sweet forever for everyone to get their stuff and get off the plane.)
Once we settled into our hotel, we decided to get our registration passes and then visit an area that my daughter and I didn’t have time for last year - Cash and Carry. In short, this is hundreds of vendors selling every type of jewelry, hair tie, purse, and other odd things you wouldn’t necessarily purchase for your storefront and have shipped to you. And as you might guess, this is just the nice way to say that we shopped A WHOLE LOT for ourselves. By 6 pm Atlanta time, Jeanne had a purse and a vest; my daughter had a slew of hair ties, two pairs of earrings, and a necklace; and I had two pairs of earrings, a necklace, and a bracelet. Total cost: $114.
Long story short, we didn’t accomplish much today for PJP unless you count a whole curated collection of Instastories (and we do count that, for sure). Also, we had a good time and made big plans for shopping tomorrow that don’t include shopping for ourselves.
We finished our night with a cocktail in the hotel lobby (well, two Dirty Shirley cocktails and one regular Shirley cocktail for the junior member of Team PJP). Jeanne is already fast asleep…here’s hoping she doesn’t keep her regular 4 am wakeup time.
