Jeanne-ology: Don't Ask Me How I Know

It’s Thursday and we started our morning by all having a drink of our new Logboat collaboration beer - the Peggy Jean. It’s a pecan pie porter and while we’ve been a part of the development process, this was our first opportunity to actually drink it. As it turn out, Jeanne LOVES it - and we think you will too. Here are her thoughts on this week. Enjoy! Rebecca

Hello Thursday Readers! Another rainy day today and another week has passed. As Rebecca has already posted, we can feel the pressure of the coming holidays. Today, Rebecca and I ordered enough ribbon to package 4,000 tarts! Goodness, we are stockpiling pie tins, pie boxes, and extra food ingredients. Jason keeps a running total of Thanksgiving orders and he announces that number every morning. Mostly, we all groan because we know how much work will need to be done. In consideration, I ordered myself a new pair of tennis shoes to be better prepared. (Rebecca editing to add: I don’t mind tying 4,000 ribbons as much as I mind cutting 4,000 ribbons. I do bet you that Jeanne will fuss at us AT LEAST 4,000 times that our bows are not to her standards.)

Our second new location will not be open in time for Thanksgiving. However, all the equipment will have be installed. After an increase in pie orders, I suggested that we could at least bake pies in the new shop. Another thought that crossed my mind was washing dishes during the long hours. Rebecca will no doubt scream, but I enjoy doing dishes. I feel I am quicker than most on getting the dishes back in circulation. In between loads of dishes, I would monitor the pies and the ovens. Sounds like a good plan for me! In about thirty minutes, I will be able to hear Rebecca scream NO WAY! I will let you know later if this happens. (Rebecca editing to add: SIGH. She loves doing dishes. I don’t understand it - the store could be burning to the ground and she would be yelling that she needed to finish one last load of bowls before evacuating.)

I have been trying to order Christmas gifts. My biggest two problems are my son-in-law and my grandson. They both love high tech gadgets, which is okay, but they need to be specific in their details. Maybe send me a pic of what they want. I did find a bracelet that you wear to bed to prevent snoring. That may be a good gift for my son-in-law. Rebecca turned down that idea and said it would be weird if I got him such a gift. Oh well, maybe so, I like practical gifts. Hopefully they will let me know soon about their wish list or there will be nothing to open! The lack of supply has affected us all. The only good thing about it, is maybe the true meaning of Christmas will be understood a little better. Being thankful for family being one of those many blessings of Christmas! (Rebecca editing to add: Every year she assign code names to our gifts so that no one knows which gifts are theirs to open. That’s pretty fun, right? UNTIL SHE LOSES HER MASTER LIST OF EVERYONE’S CODE NAME. Don’t ask me how I know.)
