Is That A Thing?
So, apparently on Crime Scene Kitchen tonight, the contestants make pie. SERIOUSLY. I sent a message to Joel McHale and said “ARE THEY SERIOUSLY MAKING PIE TONIGHT?” and he said “ARE YOU SERIOUSLY NOT WATCHING A SHOW YOU ARE ON?” and I said “NO. IS THAT A THING?”. Shouting fully intended, I guess just because the whole premise of the conversation felt shouty.
Anyway, here’s what else is going on this week:
I threw a pity party this morning because my whole goal was to not go to PJP today in effort of a little work/life balance, but then someone called in sick and so I went in to cover it. Um, yay entrepreneurship?
We are currently hiring for several morning baking positions, though 80% of Indeed applicants don’t actually arrive for the interview, so I think you’ll be seeing a lot of me on the nut pie table in the future days.
Though when I haven’t been baking, I’ve been taking a deep dive into trademarking our name and our World Pie Domination motto. You think I would have done that a hot minute ago, right? I suppose the average business hires a lawyer to spend that time on the project, but since we’ve already dropped $75k on a law school education for me, I got busy on it myself. I did all the paperwork, but now the government is backlogged by 9 to 12 weeks on trademark approvals. Sounds right.
We stopped by PJP West End today for our weekly progress video, but…no progress. We are in a holding pattern until the city approves our plans. My daughter and I sat in the car and ate a salad from Chick-fil-A and stared at the dark and empty future PJP, considering all the things to come our way.
We’ve been working on shipping nine-inch pies, doing a test round of shipments this week. Honestly, I’m never terribly disappointed that we don’t ship full-size pies because the jars are so cute. But goodness, the requests we receive for full-size pies nationwide is astounding. We are also excited to announce that we have partnered with Goldbelly, an online gourmet marketplace and we are tapping into their wealth of packaging expertise to make shipping larger pies a realistic goal. That would be a solid step for world pie domination. Or should I say World Pie Domination with the little “tm” by it, once I figure out how to type that out?
