Jeanne-ology: Tru-Dat
Well, it’s already Thursday again…time certainly flies when you are working six days a week and still thinking about PJP on the seventh day. I feel like I haven’t sat down and had a proper conversation with Jeanne in DAYS. All of our conversations are fragmented between tasks, which is a weird feeling because sometimes a girl just needs her mom. Let’s see what her take on this week is…

Hello Thursday readers! What a busy week we are having…Lord have mercy, everyone is worn out. It is good news to be tired from baking instead of tired of waiting for customers to come in. Our shop's new location has brought in so many new customers. (Rebecca editing to add: We actually sell a mug in at PJP that says “Lord Have Mercy” because it is one of the top things Jeanne says.)
This week, I met several customers with the name Peggy Jean. They took pictures in front of our sign for fun and some wanted to take pictures inside, especially of the sign that used to hang outside PJP Buttonwood. It was fun visiting with them and sharing our story! (Rebecca editing to add: Jeanne excels at that sort of visiting. I need a neon sign for the front window that lights up and says “Jeanne In Residence” when she’s available for namesake chatter.)
We are still trying to get ahead of the constant to do list. I am beginning to think it is impossible! We make quiche, pot pies and cookies. Two days later, we need to make them again. At the old location, we could make them once a week. Those days are over! (Rebecca editing to add: SO. MUCH. QUICHE.)
Today my husband wanted to know when I could devote time to doing some yard work and maybe some light renovation in our bedroom. I gave him a long stare and said January 2020 would be the earliest. He thought I was joking. SORRY, NOT SORRY. He is lucky to have clean sheets once a week and maybe two loads of laundry done! (Rebecca editing to add: The work/life balance struggle is real these days. If I could have an entire morning to clean my house and then an entire afternoon to sit in my clean house, I would be super excited. Hello, middle age.)
Although nothing is ever perfect, we are on a quest to be the best we can. Our customers are the best and very loyal. Without you, PJP would not be possible. (Rebecca editing to add: Tru-dat.)
