Now That I Think About It.
Well, for starters, thanks to everyone for the kind comments regarding last Friday night’s tart debacle. Thankfully the dumpster garbage was hauled away this morning, so the 900 or so soggy tarts we brought back are no longer in my line of sight when I park at PJP. (Sadly, emptying commercial dumpsters is a messy business and piles of red shred paper are left behind. I feel like we are going to cycle through several rain storms and snow storms and windy spring days before we see the last of it.). At any rate, we’ve been so busy this week that there’s been no time to dwell on our tart loss. Here’s what else is going on:
We jokingly refer to this week as Shipping Week. It’s like Shark Week on Discovery, but on land and with more crying. Around 1,500 jars will leave PJP this week for destinations all across America.
It is likely our holiday order form for Christmas pies will close later this week. I haven’t had time to look through the orders just yet, but I’ve answered enough emails and phone calls to know that we will have a lot to do next week.
We’ve been waiting for our gift cards to arrive for a sweet forever now, but they are promised this week. I would say that I wake up in the middle of the night worrying about the gift cards, but I wake up in the middle of the night to work on shipping, so I just worry about it on my drive in.
You know what I want for Christmas? To sit for an extended period of time.
And what’s new at PJP West End? We don’t know because we’ve been making tarts, watching them disintegrate in a rainstorm, and then making pies in jars in hopes that UPS doesn’t drop kick them down driveways to front doors. We haven’t had the time to check in our newest addition, but the reports are that construction plods along. Officially, Fall 2021 plans have morphed into Winter 2022 plans.
Now that I think about it…red shred in shipping boxes is a solid idea.
