Official
So we are officially a company with two storefronts. We’ve been talking about it for a year and have been under construction since last summer and FINALLY, here we are. Here’s how it went:
Honestly, it was completely fine. The amount of anxiety and stress we shoved into the first two hours of the work day was astounding. And actually impressive. I would be a gold metal winner if high functioning anxiety were an Olympic support.
I ended up staying all day at the West location, while Jason started the morning at Nifong. He and Jeanne arrived at West shortly before we opened because we had no idea what to expect. The tension in our new storefront was palatable as we opened our front door in our new location. Well, except for Jeanne…she’s never tense unless she can’t get her Hulu or Netflix to work.
As it turns out, she signed up for both services on a Russian domain. We have no idea how she managed such a feat.
And then customers started coming in and for the most part, it felt just like our Nifong store.
We saw so many of our friends, regular customers, and blog readers who stopped by to check in on. us. We are the luckiest family to have the best people rooting for us.
Our bank sent over a plant with a “1” balloon for the Nifong store and a “2” balloon for West. Someone even sent us an electronic gift card to Starbucks so we could get coffee this morning. I CAN’T EVEN WITH THE THOUGHTFULNESS. Tears.
We met so many new customers today too. We even had someone who happened to be going to McDonald’s for an apple pie. They saw our sign and diverted from the drive-thru lane to try our apple pie. Hopefully, we’ve made them converts to real pie.
And we had someone visit us who hadn’t left her house for five years or driven herself anywhere for far longer than that. She came to visit us on her first solo outing and she cried a bit because she was so happy. And then we all cried because we were so happy for her.
By the end of the day, we were mentally exhausted from the roller coaster of emotion we experienced today.
And then we realized that tomorrow, we are doing it all again. We are pretty fortunate, indeed.
