Relax For 10 Seconds
In breaking news, Jason has discovered why we’ve gotten no mail at PJP West since opening. Well, we’ve gotten mail we think - they just don’t bring us the mail into our store like our preternaturally happy mailman at PJP Nifong named Jeremy. As it turns out, all the mail goes to a collection of mailboxes behind the mattress store. BECAUSE OF COURSE IT DOES.
And when Jason asked how we get into our box, the post office lady said the postman dropped off the keys to “a bunch of ladies” at the West store in October. But there was no “bunch of ladies” at West in October because it was a construction site. So we went back to the post office and paid $40 to get another key to go to the mattress store to finally open our mailbox. And you know what was in it? Mostly mail for Buff City Soaps. We give up.
Here’s what else is going on:
We did a kids Epic Pie Tasting event last week spring break and it was the cutest thing you’ve ever seen. Holly was fully in charge of all the flavors and decoration because I’m the world’s least creative person. The winner overall was a S’mores Pie and in second place was Peanut Butter & Jelly pie. We are working on adding both into rotation soon at both stores for a limited time.
Earlier this week, we had some momentary panic that Jeanne had developed another blood clot in her leg, so we visited our friends at Big Tree Medical and Advanced Radiology and eventually got the all clear. Which is good, because she took today off to climb ladders and paint her kitchen ceiling. You know, because she likes to keep me on edge of painfully stressed as much as possible.
Our Easter order form is now available - remember, we will be pre-order only for the Saturday before Easter. We will try to be normal for Good Friday. Or as least as normal as we can be.
Easter falls on our eighth birthday this year. The small business failure rate is 56% at 5 years and 70% by year 10. Woof. With every milestone we pass, I relax for about 10 seconds.
And now I keep thinking that eight years ago this week, we were so close to our opening day at PJP Buttonwood. And almost a year ago, we were announcing from California that our second location was in the works. In the immortal words of Ferris Bueller, “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”
