Seven Weeks

Last Friday, we celebrated our seventh week at PJP Nifong. And by celebrated, I basically mean we all commented to each other something like “can you believe we’ve been here for seven weeks?” . I am curious to see just how long we keep up this measure of time. For example, will we one day refer to ourselves at 74 weeks old at PJP Nifong? Perhaps.

Nonetheless, here are a few things worth mentioning:

  1. We are just over 700 Thanksgiving pie orders as of this afternoon, and that is a bit ahead of norm. In the past, we’ve closed orders when it intuitively felt right…but we’ve outgrown intuition and so the very last day to order for Thanksgiving will be Wednesday, November 20th. That gives us a few solid days to get ourselves together for the big event.

  2. And if you missed the announcement, we’ve added the option of Chicken Pot Pie and Vegetable Quiche (both frozen and both in the nine-inch size) to the Thanksgiving order form. If you’ve already placed your Thanksgiving order, you can drop us an email to add either to your order. The addition of pot pie and quiche could be genius or it could be crazy…I’m not sure yet. Leaning heavily toward the crazy.

  3. Don’t forget that this week we are partnering with our friends at The Southern Rose for a game of bingo and the chance to win serious prizes. You can pick up a card at either store. I posted a picture of the card on social media last week and someone sent me a message and asked if I knew you could easily get a bingo by leaving reviews of both stores and spending $10. Which, I guess is good because it provides a low cost option for playing the game. But more I think it speaks to our ability to never run a bingo night at the VFW.

  4. One thing we are excelling at this week is collecting donations to provide homeless veterans with a super fancy dinner on November 13th. We are working with the Harry S Truman Memorial Veterans’ Hospital and the dinner is for homeless veterans in our area, so I can’t think of a better cause for PJP to be a part of. Members of the World Pie Domination movement have SLAYED it by exceeding everyone’s expectations with donations. Today a fan from South Dakota called and donated $50. You all are just the best.

  5. And finally, we are taking the PJP show on the road on Thursday to the Holiday Mart in Jefferson City. While in my mind I assumed we would set up late afternoon and be ready to go by 6 pm, the email I received yesterday reminded me that we need to be set up by 2:30. If you are looking for a metaphor for my current life, look no further. (Thankfully we can make a few hundred tarts without freaking ourselves out.) We are mainly very excited to rumspringa out and meet some new friends.
