Show Me Pie
Last night, I dreamt that someone ordered 30 gluten-free French Silk tarts and 30 gluten-free Southern Pecan tarts for a Sunday afternoon. And in my dream, I completely forgot about the order because we aren’t open on Sundays and then I remembered and rushed to PJP Nifong in a panic. And if you’ve ever made French Silk pie, you know you can’t rush it because it is a persnickety sucker and it can sense fear…so the more you rush it, the higher risk of ruining it. So anyway, that’s how I’m doing.
But here’s some interesting items of note:
We completed a total refresh on our website with Hoot Design this week and I know I’m biased, but it is absolutely LOVELY.
And if you’ve pre-ordered pies from the site in the past week, you’ve likely noticed a major upgrade: you now receive an email confirmation of your order. THANK GOODNESS. Online ordering is a total win, but no confirmation always leaves people confused and following up with an email or phone call to check the order was received. This new feature is an epic win.
And actually, it was Hoot Design that created the “Secret Ingredient: The Matriarchy” logo that we love so much. Our new matriarchy t-shirts are flying off the shelves at PJP this week.
In fact, New York Times best selling author Elin Hilderbrand commented on our matriarchy t-shirt post on Instagram with a lot of love for the shirts. So we did what any smart person would do: today, we shipped her a six pack of Jelly Jar pies and a t-shirt straight to her home. And if she re-shares any of that on her Instastories, my whole week will be made.
And finally, if that all wasn’t enough today, we had the honor of crafting a birthday pie for the governor of Missouri. Apparently, he is having a small birthday celebration this evening and we were contacted to provide some tarts (not gluten-free!) and “something special” for Governor Parson to enjoy. So we baked three pies - a 12-inch Brown Butter Chess, a nine-inch Chocolate Chess, and a five-inch Buttermilk Chess. And then Team PJP decorated it with pie crust. We hope Governor Parson loved it (and had as much fun with it as we did!)
