So Why Not?

It’s Monday, so let’s talk about all the things that are interesting at PJP but not so interesting that they deserve an entire post. Here we go:

  1. The last Epic Pie Tasting of 2024 is scheduled for this Friday. Just a few tickets remain, so be sure to purchase soon if you are interested. And if you haven’t participated in an Epic Pie Tasting, we make six flavors of pie that we’ve never made before and you give us feedback. Last month, Apple Cider Cream was the winner. Often the winners become future Pie of the Month selections, though in this case, we reduced the Apple Cider down by boiling it for several hours and I’m not sure how to do that in a quantity to make Apple Cider Cream in both stores every day for a month without designating one person as a specific cider boiler only, so we are still thinking about that.

  2. Thanksgiving is a week later this year than usual, so I was going to harp around about ordering Thanksgiving pies but honestly, we’ve got six weeks to go and I’m not going to start posting in ALL CAPS until at least post-Halloween. (And now that I’m thinking about it, I would love for someone to explain to me in one succinct sentence about Thanksgiving date selections. For at least since we’ve been the dessert captains of Thanksgiving, it’s been in the third week of November and this year, it is in the fourth week. Who decides and why am I not on the committee?)

  3. Last week, I did a Zoom interview in my home office at 8:30 pm for the local news about the Buy Missouri program, so it must have been one heck of a slow news day. In my mind, producers are sitting around tossing ideas to fill a broadcast and one of them mentions it is Buy Missouri week and then they go through a short of list of people with enough niche knowledge to discuss Buy Missouri. So that’s the backstory if you saw me on the late news with marginal backlighting and a fair amount of under eye concealer.

  4. In effort to tidy up PJP before the influx of Thanksgiving supplies arrive, I listed several things on Facebook Marketplace. So if you need 100 Gable boxes or 1000 plastic bags with an American flag on them (delivered to us by mistake and the vendor said to keep them), please email me. I would love for them to have a home that is not in PJP.

  5. And finally, a light at PJP Nifong has gone out. Did you know that those entire panels have to be replaced? Ask me how I know. Because I ordered florescent light bulbs off of Amazon to have Jason climb up there and figure out we have to order an entire new panel. And so then I ordered that from Amazon and it arrived broken and wasn’t even the correct light anyway because I’m not an electrician. So finally I called in professional help, which makes sense because we’ve already had a locksmith, a HVAC person, a plumber, an commercial appliance repair person, and a certified backflow assembly checker there in the last eight weeks, so why not an electrician too?
