Here's What Is Stressing Me Out
We are one week into Columbia’s stay-at-home order, though thankfully we are exempted because we offer carryout and curbside food service. And even so, LAST WEEK WAS THE LONGEST WEEK. Goodness sakes, can we talk about everything stressing me out? Thanks in advance.
Covid-19. Because, well, yeah.
And all the people COVID-19 has affected and all the health care workers and first responders that deal with pandemic on a very real basis every day, while I’m at a pie shop. So please know my anxiety is proportional to my life versus the global reality of this.
Sustaining our daily sales goal to meet our monthly breakeven. Every morning when I wake up, my first thought is “HOW THE HECK ARE WE GOING TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN TODAY?” And that’s probably an embarrassing thing to admit to the greater Internet community, but yet, here we are.
I watched that entire Tiger King mess just to make myself feel like all the stress I feel is at least less of a disaster than the business plans of any of those alleged cat rescue parks.
Well, and also to see all the terrible haircuts, missing teeth, murder plots, flower crowns, and cult behavior. Yep.
All that said, we’ve hit our sales goal every day for the past week. Thank you times one million if you stopped by or called for curbside delivery in the past week. (We even have hand wipes to give out with each purchase!) Everyone on Team PJP visibly relaxes once I’ve announced we made our goal for the day.
News reports now are suggesting this social distancing might extend all the way into the summer and thinking about that sort of long game makes me weak in the knees.
Also, there are eight people on Team PJP counting on Jeanne and I for a paycheck. And because we care about each of them, that isn’t a responsibility we take lightly.
As an aside, are we supposed to go into the summer without hair color and gel manicures?
Clearly, I’m kidding. (Sorta, actually, because I really like both hair color and gel manicures. Judge all you want.)
