10/10

In Greek mythology, Sisyphus is forever doomed by Zeus to roll a boulder up a hill…just to have it roll back down again, so he can roll it back up again. And if you want the one sentence description of entrepreneurship, then there you go. Feel free to DM me for more life tips. Bwwwhahahahaha.

At any rate, both stores were terribly slow today and I’ll chalk that up to the surface-of-the-sun heat outside. Though, as I write this, a rerun of our Crime Scene Kitchen episode is airing and people in various Columbia groups on Facebook are discussing it and it’s weird to read that when just scrolling by. I appreciate duality in all situations, but especially in appearing on national television while also watching our dumpster fire of a Tuesday sales numbers.

Here’s what else is going on:

  1. We leave for Dallas Mart tomorrow, but Jason and Jeanne are staying behind to handle the stores. I tried to convince Jeanne to go, but she’s not interested in more heat or walking or shopping, so that basically rules out the next three days in Texas.

  2. And most of you know Travis, who is mainly at the Nifong stores. He’s been with us for six years and at the end of July, he is moving to Dallas. We’ve known for a bit, but it sure doesn’t make it easier. Goodness, missing him won’t even come close to describing how I’ll feel by August.

  3. I was going back and forth between stores today and found myself at a stoplight next to a flatbed truck carrying a dupe of our shipping container - or it could have actually been our container. Add that to things I miss.

  4. You know what I’ll never miss? Two Christmas trees in our hallway at Nifong when it is almost July.

  5. And in two housekeeping items: 1) June Epic Pie Tasting is scheduled for June 30th and tickets are available for pickup in both stores now, but just a few are left; 2) Summer Berry Pie was our May pie tasting winner and it is on shelves at both stores now…it’s blackberry, raspberry, blueberry, and strawberries with a brown sugar, butter, and oat crumble topping. It’s 10/10.
