That's Awkward
I feel like we’ve lived 1,000 days in the last week. Between Super Bowl weekend and Valentine’s Day, we’ve been super busy. I will say that none of it was particularly difficult like in our earliest days. It wasn’t too many Valentine’s Days ago where we would start baking in the middle of the night and still be baking by early afternoon, plus I would usually cry at some point during the day. Yesterday was a 180 degree difference. Thankfully.
Here’s the rest of the news from the week:
Jeanne has been out most of the week with cellulitis in her face. The original diagnosis was a sinus infection, but we all know she’s far too difficult for a simple infection and course of antibiotics. So we went back to the doctor last Friday to discuss offbeat ailments, like facial cellulitis. Thankfully she is MUCH better and finally was able to come back to work today and seemed much more like herself than this time last week.
Which is good because next week we are partnering with the Columbia Art League for a fun event where local chefs create food inspired by a particular piece of art. Jeanne is our designated chef and that’s a title she would never claim, so it is sort of funny. She really enjoyed choosing the art last week and I can’t wait to see what she - along with other members of Team PJP - create. The event is next Tuesday evening, so thankfully she is back in full force.
Also on Tuesday, we are working on a fun project with Truist Bank, one of the largest banks in the United States. The details I have at this point are light but they are sending an entire production team and I had to send a panicked text to our hairdresser so that we look on point. Remember that time like six years ago when a local bank wouldn’t loan us money without our husbands signing on the loan, despite neither of them working at PJP at the time? It’s an issue that faces female entrepreneurs and someone at Truist read something I wrote about it once, so it is becoming a video story. I bet that is going to be really awkward if someone from local bank watches it. (Side note: shortly after awful local bank, we would partner with Kim Ponder at First State Community Bank and they’ve been our biggest cheerleader as we continue to grow.)
In other items of dumb and business related, I read that a new coffee place was denied zoning for a new store next to Raising Cane’s on Providence Road. One of the reasons? They asked for a variance to sit back further from the road since it is a drive-thru location only and the drive-thru lane needs to circle the building. In short, the zoning committee said that didn’t contribute the pedestrian nature of Providence Road. HAHAHAHAHHAHAHHA. Yep, because Providence Road lends itself well to encouraging pedestrians.
In other items of not dumb and business related, February Epic Pie Tasting is now available for purchase. The winning pie from January was a Strawberry French Silk, which is now our pie of the month. We can hardly keep that in stock, so if you want to be a part of helping us figure out March’s pie of the month, purchase tickets soon before they sell out!
