She's Not Wrong.
Well for those of you worried our Chesterfield deal had fallen apart, we decided to put some thought into it and craft up a counter offer to their counter offer (or our original offer, if you are keeping track). We haven’t turned it in just yet, but the plan is to finalize the counter offer by the end of the week and sent it back to the prospective landlord. And then they will probably send back a counter offer to our counter offer to their counter offer to our offer and we will all completely lose track of whose turn it is to counter.
Here’s what else is going on:
We’ve gotten a few calls asking if PJP will be closed next week because we will be on our family vacation. GOODNESS NO. Team PJP is completely self-sufficient without us and honestly are probably ready for us to get out of the way for a while.
We have been working diligently this week to stock all the niche items that Team PJP might need next week so that they can get on with their day without finding they are out of bourbon or sprinkles or orange juice or any of the other odd things we buy locally, rather than from our food brokers. I literally went down our menu and double checked each offering, making sure that if one rogue person orders an Old Fashioned Raisin, a Maple Cream, a gluten free Dreamsicle, and a vegan Peanut Butter and Jelly, everything needed to do that is in place. It has only taken nine years for me to be that prepared.
I ordered a case of almond extract and it arrived via Fed Ex in a box covered in stickers proclaiming in bold letters than Almond Extract can travel via cargo aircraft only. That seems really specific, right? I wonder what happens if you put six bottles of almond extract in a suitcase and got on a passenger plane?
Results of the July Epic Pie Tasting are in and the winner was Turtle, which was French Silk with whipped cream, toasted pecans, and caramel drizzle. Second was Lemon Supreme (lemon with a base of cream cheese blended with powdered sugar). Third was a Raspberry Rhubarb, fourth was Grapefruit Cream, fifth was Shoofly pie, and in the last place was a Watermelon pie. Watermelon is my favorite fruit, so I really wanted it to work. We mixed diced watermelon with condensed milk, lime juice, and whipped cream. It was just weird.
And finally, Elle texted me a picture of a sand sculpture of Taylor Swift created especially for SoFi Stadium in honor of Taylor’s Eras Tour. She will play six shows in the stadium owned by Stan Kroenke, who is also our landlord. Elle’s note said: “I’m convinced this is why the CAM charges were so high this year.” Tell me you are the kid of a small business family without telling me you are a kid of a small business family. Also? She’s probably not wrong.
