Party Like It Is 1999
I've been working for a few days on one of the most exciting parts of the PJP Buttonwood opening - the party. As part of the Kickstarter campaign, we promised all contributors an awesome cocktail-and-dessert party in our new space. And even had there been no Kickstarter, a party would be in order for all of those who have been along with us on this journey to our opening day. And let's be honest, I'll take any excuse for great hair, professional makeup, and cocktails. We've finally matured enough to figure out when we need some professional help and the opening party is a prime example. When thinking about our opening soiree, we knew we wanted to arrive at the event looking and feeling fierce. If we were left to plan it, prepare for it, stress over it, set up for it, and arrive early for it, we would just end up sweaty from our Spanx, overwhelmed from figuring out how to display the desserts, and irritable with each other because we are perfectionists (and wearing four inch heels just exacerbates every emotion).
I had the pleasure of meeting with the fabulous Adonica Coleman last week over lunch. Adonica owns A2D Event Themes and Decor. By way of disclaimer, I've known Adonica for some time and we are also neighbors. I've also been fortunate enough to be invited to several events she has put together and so when I started to think about our party, Adonica was the first person to come to mind. She throws a mean party, but is also insanely likable...an exceptionally important quality for the PJP Inner Circle.
She had some AH-MAZ-ING ideas for our opening event. While we were thinking pie samples, she was thinking beautiful table of pies to sample, signature cocktails, and swag. She basically said all we had to do was prep the dessert table, get our hair done, and figure out what is on the playlist for tunes. Hello? We accept. While introverted Jeanne is a bit unsure how this will all go down, I'm ready to party like it is 1999.
As of right now, the party is planned for Saturday, April 12th at 7pm at PJP Buttonwood. Consider this your "Save The Date" notification. We are excited to see people required by blood or marriage to attend, Kickstarter contributors, Inner Circle members, blog readers, and Jon Hamm (just kidding...it would be nice though, wouldn't it?). Invites are coming to blog subscribers so if you are not a subscriber but a regular reader, be sure to subscribe for the invite to hit your inbox in the coming week. Spanx are optional, but having a great time is guaranteed...so put it on your calendar.
