Living The Dream.

We began working today on Valentine's Day in earnest...even though it remains for me as the day that shall not be mentioned.  (And major props to all you kind people who messaged me and said they fully believed my impending significant birthday on Valentine's Day was my 30th birthday.  YES, LET'S JUST GO WITH THAT.  I can't wait to see what my thirties have in store for me.  Ahem.) Yesterday I posted a picture of our White Chocolate Strawberry pie on Facebook.

Jeanne dreamed up this combination just about this time last  year.  Basically, it has a white chocolate/cream cheese mixture covering the bottom crust, a layer a fresh strawberries, and then a whip made from the juice of the strawberries, heavy whipping cream, and sugar.  A lot of the immediate responses to the post were queries about doing the pie in milk chocolate and dark chocolate.  And because we are adventurous girls, we set about making that happen.  And let me tell you, you people are GENIUSES.  The milk chocolate version had me hello.  Rare is the occasion that Jeanne or I take pie home to eat but I'll fully admit to cozying up to Karl Pilkington on the Netflix tonight with half a baby milk chocolate strawberry pie and zero shame.

And just when I thought we couldn't perfect our Valentine options, Jeanne and Sunae decided to make chocolate roses from scratch to decorate the pies.  I likely couldn't produce a rose made from chocolate even if you put a gun to my head and started yelling at me, so I can't tell you how they did it.  But I can show you a picture...

And just then when I thought I had seen it all, Jeanne finally perfected the chocolate & peanut butter pie she's been working on forever.  And she put a chocolate rose on it.  And then we all marveled at how cute it was and I don't have a picture because we cut right into it, sampled a bite and then shared it with customers stopping by to purchase pie for their feedback.  We were basically living the dream today.

And at the end of the day, even Behind-The-Scenes-Tech-Guru Jason benefitted from all of our creative baking.  He will be the first to tell you that he NEVER gets pie and so today, I came through for him in a big way.  Or actually in a baby way...as in a baby Sour Cream Raisin.  And look, you might as well know the man has a palate of a 90-year-old because any sort of sour cream based pie?  Yes, please.  And no, I don't understand either...
