MacGyver It...

Well, if you are wondering how I fared on Friday and Saturday without Jeanne, the short answer is MEH.  In fact, she made a guest appearance on Friday afternoon for an hour or so (she simply stopped by to drop something off and then experienced generalized anxiety upon seeing how many dishes I had managed to pile in the sink).  And then after doing the baking schedule on Friday evening for the next day, I experienced generalized anxiety at the number of orders for Saturday pickup.  The panic in my voice when I called her resulted in her meeting me at 4 am the next morning and staying until mid-morning.  Vacation fail, INDEED.  The only goal I have for this week is to not see her for the next five days.  True story. And look, as if I didn't feel thrown off enough by our thwarted co-dependency, our ovens have started acting strangely.  Each and every time the timer buzzes on our ovens, the timer knobs fall off.  SERIOUSLY.  Sometimes they simply fall off without ceremony and a few times, they've flown across the baking space and rolled under the tables, requiring us to chase them down while the timer buzzes incessantly.  I KID YOU NOT.

It is basically as annoying as you would suspect.  None of us can figure out the sudden cause, but the short list of reasons includes the weather outside, the dry air inside, and perhaps just the Universe's knowledge that Jeanne won't be there to deal with it this week (because she would MacGyver up some solution using Gorilla Glue, two paperclips, and six inches of twine.)

In fact, I wouldn't be surprised to see her at 7 am tomorrow with a bag of oven knob fixing supplies...
