2021 Recap

Early each January, Square sends me a report that breaks down our entire previous year in one quick email. Either everyone that uses Square is like me and prefers that no complex spreadsheet be attached to the email to get to the real data…or there actually is a spreadsheet attached to the email and I’m just not savvy enough to open it and decipher it. Either way, but here's all we need to know...

  1. We grew 15% in 2021 over 2020 sales.  And given the continuing global pandemic, labor shortages, widespread inflation, and just the general chaos that seems prevalent as we roll into a new year, 15% growth is A COMPLETE AND TOTAL SUCCESS STORY. Whew.

  2. Square tracked PJP at just a smidge under 26,000 sales transactions in the past year (25,989 to be exact). That's 3,500 more transactions than in 2020.

  3. I have no idea how many transactions is average for a small business, but rolling over the 25,000 threshold in one storefront makes us feel legit.

  4. Our busiest day of the week was Saturday. If you’ve ever been at PJP at 10 am on a Saturday, you aren’t surprised.

  5. Our slowest day of the week was Wednesday.  What?  I would have laid money on Tuesday.  This is why I never do well in Vegas.

  6. Our busiest month was December, for the second time in PJP history. I thought I had never worked harder in my life than December 2020 until I lived through December 2021.

  7. Our least busy month was January.  If January were a person, I would break up with January.  Dear January, it's not me...it's you.

  8. This year, Jason joined us full-time, we signed a lease on a second location, and Jeanne and I competed on a national television competition. And that’s just the big things we did last year. I can’t even consider all the small things we did that contributed to the entire year without needing to lay down.

  9. Our most popular pie was White Chocolate Strawberry, ousting Dutch Apple from the throne for the first time ever in our history.

  10. Our top customer visited us 54 times last year (or at least used the same credit card 54 times…cash transactions aren’t included in the customer visit count.)  That’s an average of 4.5 visits a month, or almost a visit a week for the year. We couldn’t be more honored to have customers that have become our family. We are truly the luckiest to have each and every one of you.

Cheers to 2022.  And 50,000 transactions in two locations?  We're coming for you...
