That Would Be A Scene

If you’ll recall, we removed our shipping container from our Nifong location in anticipation of the painting of the building by the landlord. (Well, the landlord is paying for painting. Stan Kroenke isn’t painting it himself, obviously. But wouldn’t that be a scene if he did?) (And by paying for it, I mean we are all paying for it in our common area maintenance charges. Stan Kroenke isn’t paying for it himself, obviously. But wouldn’t that be a scene if he did?)

So yesterday we got a text that no one could park behind the building today because the painting is happening TODAY. (I don’t know anything about painting a commercial building, but part of me feels like you have to wash the building or something before you paint it. But no one washed it or scrubbed away the rust dripping from the gutters, so I could be wrong.)

I do know about my Subway tomato plant out there though and at this point, it has three green tomatoes that are growing quite nicely. So in anticipation of the painting, I went outside and covered my tomato plant since it is growing in the crack between the building and the parking lot and it seems the deck is already stacked against it. To cover it, I used a Peggy Jean’s Pies bag and it worked quite nicely.

But then by mid-day, no painting (or cleaning) and NO PEGGY JEAN’S BAG ON THE PLANT. What the heck? Where did go? It wasn’t windy today, so clearly someone must have removed the bag. And I can’t decide if someone else feel ownership over these parking lot tomatoes OR they were hoping the painting would remove the plant. Either way, it is a mystery.

And by the day’s end, still no painting. And honestly, we are a little curious to see which shade of industrial yellow they’ve chosen for our building. So I guess we will see how tomorrow goes, but I’m totally covering those tomatoes up again.
