Four Horsemen
Well, I started to say that nothing really interesting happened today…but then on my drive home, I was talking to Jeanne on the phone and she mentioned she was making meatballs for the first time since I was EIGHT MONTHS OLD. So basically she hasn’t made meatballs in 44 years. And then I started to think about my whole life growing up and I seriously don’t ever remember eating spaghetti and meatballs. That just goes to prove that you think you know someone so well and then they bust out with the news they haven’t made meatballs since 1976 and your mind is blown.
(Also, I have no idea what has prompted her to make them in 2020. Though, knowing her, she likely thinks COVID and the upcoming election are akin to the four horsemen of the apocalypse, so this could have been a last minute plan since 2020 has been a dumpster fire. Just guessing.)
Here’s what else:
On the bright side, we were delightfully busy today…even by October standards. We had a customer drive 4.5 hours to pick up 30 pot pies to take home and keep in their freezer until their next visit to PJP. We couldn’t be more honored, really.
And actually, Chicken Pot Pie has been our number one selling item of 2020 in the first 10 months. That is a complete change from the first 10 months of 2019, when Dutch Apple ranked #1.
We are approaching 300 pies on order for Thanksgiving, which is up from previous years at this point in October. As I advised someone earlier today, go ahead and order - you can always change or delete the order, even after we close the ordering system. But you can’t add yourself after that date.
And if you can’t decide on what to order, Thanksgiving Preview Epic Pie Tickets for October 22nd are still available for purchase over the phone ($29 each). We decided to sell 100 tickets in order to prove we never back down from a challenge.
Yesterday I watched some YouTube videos and figured out how to dismantle the entire interior of my refrigerator and deep clean all the shelves. So basically I’ve become my mother. Except I regularly make homemade meatballs for my family.
