Heck No

This afternoon, I asked Jeanne if she planned to write her weekly blog tonight and she laughed and said: “HECK NO, I’VE DONE NOTHING INTERESTING ALL WEEK.” Fair enough.

And to be fair, I don’t suppose PJP has either. We’ve made a lot of pie and sold a lot of pie, but for the most part we’ve been smooth sailing through calm seas. Also, having both Sunday and Monday off - my first two consecutive days off since last summer - has made me 90% less grouchy by this point in the week. Funny how that works, right? So I can’t tell if I’ve cracked some sort of code to a calm week at PJP…or if I’m just more rested and that impacts it. OR MAYBE BEING RESTED IS THE CODE? That is something to think about, indeed. Either way, here’s a few other items worth sharing:

  1. Funny how this works, but goal setting for the month has been super helpful in getting things done. We finished all of our May goals and spent some time working on plans for June. Jeanne stopped by for an hour and drew flowers on our erase board at the bottom of the goal list. 100% on brand.

  2. We’ve introduced a PJP Inner Circle text subscription. If you text PJP to 484848, you’ll be added. There’s no cost and you can opt-out any time (though, why would you?). We plan to use it share fun surprise discounts, flash sales, and ordering deadline reminders. We won’t text you a ton, I promise.

  3. We also enabled our landline to receive text messages. So if you ever want to know something about PJP, but you don’t want to call and talk to a human, WE GOT YOU. You can just text us at 573-447-PIES and we will answer. Except don’t text me and ask how you can text a landline in 2020, because I don’t know the answer.

  4. I worked today on listing our Jelly Jars for sell on Amazon. The original PJP sold on Amazon when Amazon was barely a thing in 2000, so it keeps linking that account to what I’m doing now to what PJP sold then (which, interestingly enough, was only baby pies). I had a 40 minute conversation today with someone in a call center wherein I tried to explain that we are still Peggy Jean’s Pies, but with a different legal entity than 2000 and the person acted like they had never heard of such a scenario. And considering I just received an empty box missing a rolling pin from Amazon, I doubt I’m the most difficult situation they have going on over there.

  5. I also printed all the paperwork to start the loan forgiveness process for the Payroll Protection Program funds we received last month. And it seems to me that if the government gave me money to pay payroll and I paid payroll, then it shouldn’t be that hard to verify, right? HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA.
