Live Look

Thankfully the blizzard did not materialize and we were able to open both PJP locations today. And I’ll tell you that at PJP Nifong, the gap in the back door is so large that it actually accumulated snow INSIDE our back hallway. At this point, I’m afraid to go in early tomorrow morning because I’ll probably need to shovel a path to the office. (Not to mention that it’s just so cold. And if it snows through the crack in the door, you better believe that the cold air pours in with a miserable force.).

(Clearly we need a new back door. But the standard Kroenke lease requires that we purchase the back door. I would definitely buy the replacement doors for any commercial building I owned when they started to warp off the building. But this is why he is a millionaire and I’m not.)

But whatever. We did fine today, despite the arctic blast. We had a lot of orders for both stores, but the in-store foot traffic was markedly less than any day in the past two weeks. I can’t even be mad about it because we used the time to regroup ourselves before we head right into some of our busiest two days of the year. And by regroup, I mainly mean we drove home before dark. It’s really the little things.

So tomorrow we will bake hundreds of pies in both stores for a full day of pre-order pickups. And then we will do it again on Saturday, just more pies in a shorter time frame since we close at 1pm for the Christmas Eve holiday. We’re off Sunday and Monday before roll back in and finish 2022 with a pie tasting on the 30th (a few tickets remain for purchases on our website!).

Until then, here’s what I’ll look like leaving the parking look at PJP Nifong at 1:01 Saturday afternoon…obviously, I’m super happy to be at my house during daylight hours for aa few days.
