Winter Wonderlands
A few years ago (or an eon in the retail world), we used to close the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day. When we moved from Buttonwood to Nifong, we worried we couldn’t afford to close for an entire week. Ever since, we’ve closed the day after Christmas and been business as usual for the rest of the week. Which is all just to say that we had a solid two days off in a row and that hasn’t happened in at least eight weeks, so it was a total win.
Here’s what else is going on:
Hopefully everyone had a delightful holiday weekend. We had the nicest few days together and the loveliest of Christmas mornings. I’ll let Jeanne tell you this week what we gifted her but she yelled so loud with excitement that Jason thought she had cut herself on the box opener.
This whole week has no sense of normalcy. We have Epic Pie Tasting this week and I sent out a Square Marketing email to over 10,000 recipients and said tasting is scheduled for Thursday, December 30th. Except Thursday is the 29th, so that’s great.
Our food delivery trucks also didn’t run yesterday because of the holiday, so they were as behind and as thrown off by a Monday on a Tuesday as we were today.
We are doing 40% off of all holiday merchandise this week at both stores, regardless of the date. The number of Tik Tok videos featuring houses completely free of Christmas decor by sundown on Christmas Day is astounding to me. I’ve got a house and two stores that are still winter wonderlands.
We are open 10 am to 2 pm on New Year’s Eve and then we are closed on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday to reset ourselves before heading into 2023. Which means we will have a Monday on a Thursday next week. Goodness. Remind me not to send any emails.
