Jeanne-ology: Hey, Alexa?
Welp, it is already Thursday and we are on the downhill slide to National Pi(e) Day. Two days out from a big event is my least favorite because it is too soon to bake, but not too soon to obsess about the details. Jeanne NEVER stews around about this sort of thing and that’s an admirable quality. Here’s her thoughts on the week! Rebecca

Hello Thursday Readers! Cooler weather today, my husband thinks spring is here and it will heat up again very soon. I told him to hold on because I have shoveled a lot of flurries in April. Everyone knows that Missouri weather is unpredictable. I do hope I am wrong and that spring is getting ready to shower us with flower buds, the aroma of newly mowed grass, and the birds chirping. (Rebecca editing to add: 0/10 stars for Daylight Savings Time this weekend. But 10/10 stars for everything else about spring.)
I was not at the shop today. Lately I have been working less and spending time with my husband while he is healing. It is a hard balance for me because of shifting gears with staying home and taking care of my husband and the hustle and bustle of PJP. In time, things will hopefully return to normal and a regular routine will settle in. (Rebecca editing to add: I’ve never met anyone LESS routine oriented in my life than my mother. The lack of routine is her routine.)
Rebecca encouraged me to order groceries online. I like the idea because after work tomorrow I can just pull up and have them loaded into the car. I have never tried this before and if it goes well, it will be my newest fun thing to do. I have noticed that when I grocery shop after a day at the pie shop, I am tired and always seem to miss some items we need. Rebecca also told me they would deliver to our home. I don't think I will consider this unless they bring in the groceries and put them away for me. That would be worth the fee for grocery delivery. Maybe they would offer to do this for me if they saw my husband hobbling around an me limping because my feet hurt. Who knows? (Rebecca editing to add: WELCOME TO THE 21ST CENTURY, SISTER.)
Speaking of the pie shop, we now have Alexa to handle the music. Yesterday, I kept Alexa to change the music and I was shouting my request to her. One of our customers began chuckling. She must have wondered why did I have to shout to get Alexa attention. My son-in-law installed Alexa for our convenience. I do appreciate that. He is high tech on everything! Now we take pie orders by typing in the information on the iPad. No need for paper order forms. After he showed me how to use the app, it wasn't ten minutes later that someone called to order. I was easier than I had expected and I was proud of myself for using the app. I do admit that Rebecca and her family are soooo much better at maneuvering the internet and apps. My son-in-law answers my phone calls by saying “tech support, how can I help you?” (Rebecca editing to add: I give it three business days before she is convinced that Alexa is sharing out music selections with a third party - like the government. And then I’ll spend at least a week convincing her the government doesn’t care what we listen to.)
National Pi(e) Day will be celebrated on Saturday. $3.l4 off any purchase will bring in a large crowd! So tomorrow and Saturday will be long and hectic days. Please come by and help us celebrate the day. With such good discounts, you need to stock up. Most flavors freeze beautifully. I will be waiting to see you! (Rebecca editing to add: Feel free to ask Alexa to change the station.)
