If You Know, You Know
We’ve enjoyed a two day holiday break at PJP and honestly, it’s been a delight. Two days off in a row - in a row is key - is a rare calendar event that hasn’t happened since early January and won’t happen again until Christmas. And obviously there will be a few occasions where I won’t be there two days in a row, but there’s an added bonus when the stores are actually closed and I can’t worry about how it is going or what either store might need. If you know, you know.
Here’s what else is going on:
We were super busy in both stores on Monday. We started very early in the morning and Jason and I were there until close. We didn’t want anything left in either store since it wouldn’t be good when we reopen tomorrow, so we sent a text in the late afternoon that said dessert pies were 50% off. And seriously, both stores were emptied within 10 minutes.
One of our food delivery trucks couldn’t arrive with our scheduled Monday truck because they lost power at their St. Louis facility and couldn’t open their coolers. So if you visited Hyvee or Walmart near Nifong on Monday and found all their fresh strawberries gone, I’m sorry. It takes a truckload of fresh strawberries to make a hundred American Flag pies, so when you don’t have an actual truck...
On Saturday, there’s a significant number of Team PJP members (self included) attending Taylor Swift in Kansas City. And a significant number of Team PJP members who will be happy to not hear us discuss Taylor Swift concert outfits any longer.
Ellery and I go to Atlanta next week for our summer trip to market. It’s one of our highlights of summer, wherein we will shop for fall and holiday for 10 hours a day. I asked both Jason and Jeanne if they wanted to come with us, but both said absolutely not and immediately no.
This is always a time of staffing changes as we start to plan for fall school schedules. We are looking for a morning baker (8am-12pm) and an afternoon team member (2pm-6pm) and you can apply on our website if you (or anyone you know) is interested. We have so much fun together, whether you are in the “let’s go to Taylor Swift” camp or the “how hard can it be to make a Taylor Swift concert outfit decision” camp.
