Jeanne-ology: It's Actually Wednesday.
Jeanne shocked me tonight by sending me a blog post A SECOND NIGHT IN A ROW. Holy smokes - she’s captaining this PJP ship with some white hot intensity and I’m totally here for it. Enjoy her thoughts on her day! - Rebecca
Hello, Wednesday Readers! Sorry about mixing my days up when I blogged last night. One day rolls into another at my age, so at least I am finally on the right day! (Rebecca editing to add: Little known fact - she never keeps track of the days. That’s my job.)
Everything went pretty smooth today except that I had to call Rebecca about printing out shipping labels. She stayed on the phone with me until every label was printed. Whether it shipped ground or two day air was a big help. She even made sure that the note cards were included with each package. We finished the jelly jar packages, taped them up and delivered to UPS. Thank goodness that hurdle was accomplished. (Rebecca editing to add: You’ve never really lived until you are wearing a swimsuit and shouting “NO, THE CREATE LABEL BUTTON ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE SCREEN. SEE IT? THE RIGHT SIDE. CLICK THAT ONE.)
The staff was great as usual. I did the inventory and most everything balanced. I like the new system of logging in pie inventory and comparing next day sales to see what sold. This helps us determine what pie products were sold, what pies were damaged, and did we balance. I didn't do any baking just paper work sitting in the office most of the morning. Now I understand why Rebecca spends so much time in the office. I cannot wait until she returns to take things over. Whew! What an ordeal. (Rebecca editing to add: You’ve also never lived until you are wearing a swimsuit and Jeanne calls to tell you that she’s completely deleted White Chocolate Strawberry from our inventory system and could I perhaps fix that from my phone?)
This afternoon a couple of the staff said they missed Rebecca and my granddaughter because they constantly talk. That is a true statement. They said I was too quiet. I agree with that, I become so focused on the task at hand that I cannot talk and work with numbers at the same time. Rebecca can. So this afternoon, I faced time my granddaughter so our staff could visit with Rebecca and the family. We spent about forty five minutes laughing and discussing things. It really helped our staff feel connected. (Rebecca editing to add: We loved our FaceTime call with Team PJP. Vacation is a delight, but having people you enjoy working with is even more of a delight.)
Tomorrow is a day closer to Rebecca and family returning home. Good news for me, I think I can hang on until the end of the week. Maybe I will take Monday off and rejoice that Rebecca is handling everything fine without me. I will drink coffee until noon and enjoy the slow morning. Rebecca will, no doubt, say that since I can do inventory and shipping labels, I should come in so she can handle email other issues. We will see who wins the argument. (Pfft. She will win.)
