Jeanne-ology: Good At The Advice

It’s Thursday (though it feels like Friday because this week has been interminably long - I suppose since I traveled over the weekend) and Jeanne is here with her thoughts on the week. In all honesty, she had no idea it was Thursday because she never pays attention to the day of the week. Apparently I’m becoming like her in all of the ways. Enjoy! Rebecca

Hello Thursday Readers! Another week has passed and January is already almost halfway over. That's okay with me - the first few months of a new year are the hardest to bear. Rain, snow and a lot of coldness! (Rebecca editing to add: We decorated PJP for Valentine’s Day today and it is ADORABLE. It looks cozy and charming and the girls did such a great job.)

Rebecca is back from her merchandising trip to Dallas. Thank goodness! She is the face of PJP and a mover to get us meeting our goals. Whew, she has a lot of big goals this year and I am already working on things that need to be done. Of course, my list is much smaller than her list. Even my son-in-law has a to do list. (Rebecca editing to add: Spoiler alert…I gave everyone at PJP a to-do list. It takes a village.)

This month we have pie tasting planned and a big event to celebrate National Pie Day by offering all flavor of tarts at a low price. I only look at the month at hand. I know her planner has a lot of listings for the following months, but I turned a blind eye. I don't want to know what is coming up. I would feel tired before the following months fall into place. (Rebecca editing to add: True. Information for her is best on a “need to know basis” and she only needs to know a day at a time.)

On the home front, my husband is still in rehab doing a lot of therapy. His pain is beginning to lessen (thank goodness) and he thinks he is ready to come home. I am not convinced he is ready, but I do understand his desire to do so. His balance is not good and I don't want him falling again. Tomorrow we will see what his doctor says. I don't think it will be what my husband wants to hear. (Rebecca editing to add: She is delivering her famous cookies to him via the front desk at the rehab facility on a near daily basis, so he is likely the envy of the joint.)

My twin sister, Janie, is due for a visit this weekend. I look forward seeing her. The last time she was here was over two years ago. She is also bringing a dear friend of us both. We have known her since seventh grade. I imagine we will eat too much and stay up too late every night. My sister had planned to come last fall, but it never panned out. Rebecca thinks she will back out again for this weekend, I hope not. Let's hope the weather is not as bad as they predict. Missouri weather, as we all know, is fickle. I have shoveled a lot of flurries that was predicted, and prepared for major storms that never happened. (Rebecca editing to add: I don’t need the stress of snow tomorrow because it makes retail slow and stressful. And I hope that Janie is able to visit because I know how much Jeanne would enjoy it.)

It just occurred to me that our Missouri weather mirrors real life. You never know what to expect, even when plans are made. Maybe I should realize that I need to turn a blind eye about the future and just take it a day at time. (Rebecca editing to add: I may be good at the goals, but she’s good at the advice.)
