Jeanne-ology: Unrelenting

It’s Thursday and we can hardly believe that Thanksgiving is a full week behind us. Clearly, Jeanne has recovered from the week because she’s back tonight with her thoughts on Thanksgiving 2020. Enjoy!

Hello, Thursday Readers! I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving whether you spent it with family or just a cozy day with a loved one. My Thanksgiving was delightful, Rebecca prepared such a feast and it was nice to just chill - no talk about the pie shop, just family talk. Of course we were all tired and achy, but a day away from the pie shop, wearing just lounging clothes and being with family made the aches and pains well worth it. (Rebecca editing to add: Two days without leaving my house last week was in my top 10 joys of 2020.)

It was difficult to re-open on Small Business Saturday because two days off is not near enough for sore bodies and sore feet. We had a lot of orders and stocking the shelves with extra pies for walk-ins was the plan for the day. Our foot traffic was not as much as last year for Small Business Saturday. I noticed other storefronts also experiencing a lower customer walk-in. I suspect it is due to the pandemic. (Rebecca editing to add: No lie, it took every single thing in my soul to get up on Saturday morning and go back to PJP and bake more things. If you ever wonder if. retail storefront entrepreneurs wear out with the unrelenting schedule, WE DO.)

Christmas orders are pouring in, thankfully. Jason developed a Christmas order form to make things easier for us and the customer. We are offering a good selection of pie choices that should please everyone. Today I learned that Rebecca has some huge corporate accounts that she hasn't shared with me until now. That daughter of mine is competitive and unrelenting in taking orders. She has booked every thing from big tart orders, a million jelly jars pie shipments, and pie orders. Add the customer add on's and Thanksgiving will be a mild walk in the park compared to December. The only way I can cope is to focus on one day at a time. Don't tell me the total number of products for the month or I mentally shut down! I told Rebecca that she will not see me in January, maybe not even February. Well maybe February because her birthday is on Valentine's Day. I say all of this and deep down I know she will have other events planned for those two months! (Rebecca editing to add: All information at this point at PJP is on a need-to-know basis. And I’m the only one that needs to know because I’ll absolutely FREAK everyone else out if they could see the whole month ahead. In my defense, we have goals to meet.)
