Laying Low.
If you don’t know PJP well, you might well assume that we are laying fairly low this week in deference to all the crazy of last week’s Thanksgiving holiday. (I am tempted to compare the idea of this week to when the winning Super Bowl team goes to Disney World. Except we didn’t earn millions last week and no one gave me an overly large gold ring…so, I guess not. But you know what I mean.)
All that said, we are most definitely NOT basking in the splendor of record sales last week by doing nothing. For the past two days, we’ve been working on a project long in the works. We’ve partnered with the Telluride Film Festival and this week, we are shipping six-packs of Jelly Jar pies all over the United States to their patrons who have made significant financial contributions to support the festival. In terms of just how famous this festival is, the weekend is nestled between the Cannes Film Festival and the New York Film Festival as Oscar contending movies are unveiled to the public. We feel this makes us famous-adjacent, AHEM. All kidding aside, we are honored for the opportunity and consider it one small step toward World Pie Domination.
Otherwise at PJP, the storefront has been fairly quiet the last few days. The rational part of me recognizes that we just finished a major food holiday, and a pie-centric one at that. The irrational part of me checks Square every hour to see how our numbers are holding and then I stress some. It’s pretty charming. When I’m not stressing, I did get some decisions finalized that you might be interested in, so here you go:
Holiday Hours: We will be open from 9-1 on Christmas Eve and closed December 25th and 26th. We will be open from 9-1 on New Year’s Eve and closed January 1st and 2nd. If you are wondering if it is too soon to order for Christmas, IT ISN’T. You can order online any time.
The very last day that Jelly Jar shipments can leave PJP and arrive at their final destination for Christmas is December 18th. This means you’ll need to order no later than the 17th to be included in that final shipment. You can order online any time and leave a note to let us know when you would like the shipment to head out the door.
And finally, it’s pretty clear to me that we need to add another person to our afternoon staff. Specifically we are looking for someone who is customer service oriented, who believes in World Pie Domination, and who will care for our sweet PJP like we do several afternoons a week, even when we aren’t there. Send us an email at hello@pjpies.com if this fits you or someone you know.
