Marginal Hope
Mondays have become our day to meet at PJP West End with Beacon Street Construction to discuss the build out progress of construction…especially as all eyes are on the calendar with the looming question of WHAT DAY WILL THE SECOND STORE OPEN? (Spoiler alert: We don’t know. No one knows.)
Here are the latest developments:
The high gloss flooring continues to be a source of contention. This afternoon I applied lipstick in the reflection of the flooring to prove a point to Jeanne, but she thought that was more of a positive to the flooring than a negative. Sounds right. We are going to test a sample area with a matte covering to see if can arrive at a compromise.
Though she does love a matte finish lipstick, so I have marginal hope.
If you can believe this, the health department is requiring THREE handwashing sinks in our new location. Let us all harken back to the handwashing sink debacle at PJP Nifong when we installed one, but then needed two to pass inspection. In the process of two years and an extra 100 square feet, we now need a third sink. I wonder if it just eventually caps out…like are there places with 10 handwashing sinks?
We spent a lot of time talking about light fixtures and lumens. I never ever ever ever thought I would say this, but here goes: I’m a little sad that we don’t have the drop ceiling that we do at PJP Nifong. And I HATED that ceiling during the buildout process, so go figure. Light options are much easier when you don’t have to suspend then from the rafters.
We might have to settle for clear glass in our office door because our seeded glass that we like so much in our current office is backordered for MONTHS. We are looking into other options because I feel like the space will be akin to a zoo exhibit with clear glass to all the people walking by to use the bathroom. I guess at least our makeup will look good.
