Not Chickens

I didn’t mean to fall from the grid for the last few days…but on Monday, our oldest child started at Mizzou and yesterday, our youngest started her sophomore year of high school AND turned 16. And if you have ever parented people those ages, then you know that the past few days were a gauntlet.

Otherwise, here’s what is happening at PJP:

  1. PJP West End has hit a construction lull, because there are no doors. The doors that were ordered in May haven’t yet arrived. We currently have a front door because our unit is housed where the original doors were for Gap…but we have no back door. And First Watch has a back door, but yet no front door. And Buff City Soaps has no doors, so…yeah.

  2. I’m often asked about what is being built at the corner of Ash and Stadium near PJP West End, directly across from Michael’s. It is a Scooter’s Coffee and I’m certain it will do well there because Stadium has a coffee shortage. Once at a Scooter’s (not in Columbia), they poured hot coffee over ice in a cup and called it iced coffee. NO THANK YOU. I’m certain they were out of iced coffee but didn’t want to tell me, so I’ll hold on hope that the proper iced coffee will flow like water over there because I’ll need it at the new store. (Just not melted ice water from hot coffee.)

  3. And while we are short doors at the new store, PJP Nifong has struggled with shortages on our food orders. This week, our blackberries, egg yolks, dulce de leche, and cornstarch all didn’t arrive. And then on the same day, our home grocery order arrived missing a third of the items because of stock issues.

  4. Now that I think about it, I hope we aren’t restarting the toilet paper hoard of 2020 again. I did notice that Hy-Vee was completely out of fresh chicken today. Is chicken the new toilet paper?

  5. At any rate, we’ve been slow this week at PJP. I swear it correlates to the surface of the sun heat in Missouri this week. If I ever sought my PhD, I would write my dissertation based on retail sales in correlation to weather patterns. Though, no one probably cares but me. And maybe meteorologists. Definitely not chickens.
