Nothing Stays the Same
Not surprisingly, a cold and snowy Monday equals a terribly lackluster sales day at PJP. Though our numbers from today would have been a serious goal for a Monday just a few years ago, so I guess it is all relative to where we are in our entrepreneurial journey…so, I think we will call it a win.
Here’s what else is going on:
Jeanne’s husband is still in the hospital, but improving and a return home is on the horizon. We are working diligently on changing so many of our patterns of work and ways of approaching different situations at PJP in order to support our growth and it has been mentally exhausting. Adding in the Dale situation has been an extra strain on Jeanne that has been far from easy. She will be fine because she’s the strongest person I know and she would be the first remind me that nothing every stays the same.
We are shipping out so many six-packs of Jelly Jars this week after releasing our promo code of PIEISLOVE to save 20% per shipment to celebrate Valentine’s Day. I set a cap at 100 redemptions and almost every code was used before last night’s deadline. We have jars going to so many different states and because I’m a super nerd, I’ll admit that making the UPS shipping labels and handwriting the note cards is my favorite part of shipping days.
We are upgrading our shipping boxes, starting with a custom logo stamp in the return address portion of the box. And we ordered 15,000 yards of custom kraft logo box tape that requires an expensive heat-activated machine. But once this all arrives, we should have the cutest boxes of pies to be found on doorsteps anywhere in America.
And just in time, because over the next few weeks we are testing shipments of tarts to different destinations to see how they arrive and if there is sufficient interest in ordering tarts in lieu of jars for a lower price point option. We asked today on Instagram for some volunteer recipients and were flooded with fans in faraway locales. You all are the best.
Oh, and our order clip for this Saturday is so heavy that it is starting a slow slide down the side of the refrigerator where we store it throughout the week. If the person you admire/like/love has even MENTIONED the idea of getting White Chocolate Strawberry for the holiday week, we suggest ordering now. Your future self will thank your current self.
