Jeanne-ology: Good News, Please.

Hi There - it’s Thursday and today we worked non-stop on prepping for $5 Friday tomorrow, so imagine how Jeanne looked at me when I reminded her at 2:30 this afternoon that it was her day to blog? Ahem. Enjoy! Rebecca

Hello Thursday Readers! What a emotional roller coaster week for my husband and me. Rebecca mentioned what had happened with my husband needing surgery. I will provide a few more details for you. My husband has an umbilical hernia that ruptured three days after I had brought him home from rehab from his hip break. Monday morning he was sick and I could tell he needed to go the hospital. He didn't argue with me and that scared me even more. The ambulance came and picked him up and after a couple hours in the ER, they took him to surgery. (Rebecca editing to add: Sigh. Though, while I was at PJP, Behind-the-Scenes Jason could at least go over and wait for the ambulance with her. Living across the road from each other has perks.)

The doctors kept going over the high risk he was in because he has COPD and is already on oxygen. The percentage rate was low on surviving the surgery. The only option was palliative care where he would live two weeks or a month. We both agreed surgery was the best option. I couldn't follow him up to surgery and had to wait in the main floor waiting room. Rebecca wanted to come over and wait with me, but I didn't let her. She spends too many hours at the shop and was exhausted. I promised to call as soon as the Doctor saw me after surgery. It felt eerily quiet while I waited. Three hours later, the Doctor said the surgery went very well but he was not out of the woods yet. I was so very thankful driving home. My husband has had a couple of bumps and scares since surgery. The doctor calls me every day to tell me what is happening. So please keep us in your thoughts and hopefully within a week he will be able to come home. (Rebecca editing to add: I felt bad for Jeanne’s stress today. Being responsible for a business and also being super busy is a double edged sword - it’s a distraction for sure, but it takes some mental toughness to push through when your personal life feels like a mess and you are worried.)

Meanwhile, I have been at the shop staying busy and keeping my mind off the what if's about my husband. $5 Friday is tomorrow and we today we ran the gambit preparing for this event. Rebecca has a schedule of baby pies to make that it makes my head spin thinking how we are going to accomplish the amount of baking we need to do. Needless to say, we will start tomorrow very, very, early. (Rebecca editing to add: I took our totals from the 2019 event and doubled it to set our goals for tomorrow. That sounds simple, right?)

So if you haven't heard of $5 Friday, come in and help make our day a success. I really need some good news! (Rebecca editing to add: Indeed, she does.)
