Jeanne-ology: Pre-Planning

Today is Thursday and Jeanne surprised me with a blog post for the second week in a row. As you’ll see, she has a lot to say about her past few days. Enjoy! Rebeccaa

Hello Thursday readers! This will make two weeks of writing to you. Sounds like I may be getting back on track.

I took Monday and Tuesday off to finish out re-decorating my bedroom. The new floor was laid last Thursday and it is so beautiful! I would show you a photo but there is nothing to compare to the old room. My bedroom looks so much larger and brighter. It is amazing what new paint and new flooring will do. (Rebecca editing to add: I’ve seen it and can attest it is 10/10.)

Monday was spent putting my new bed together. Whew! What an ordeal. Just to carry all the pieces into the bedroom was a job in itself. I thought I did really good. I couldn't lift the box springs or the mattress onto the frame. I called Jason immediately. He was getting ready to mow their lawn but he came over before he started to help me out. He immediately noticed that the bed frame was not put together the right way. He saw the problem right away and an hour later we were able to slide in the box springs and mattress. I then needed his help to hook the tv and some other small things I needed. He had to pass on mowing his yard, I kept him too busy. (Rebecca editing to add: As soon as he got back home, he said “Did you tip her off that I was home and getting ready to mow?” Ahem. She LITERALLY never runs out of projects.)

Tuesday was spent putting on new doorknobs. My hinges were gold, the new doorknobs are black. I forgot to buy to hinges. The hinges were around $11.00 each! That would equal $33.00 a door! Forget it! I took off the old hinges, sanded them and painted them black. A lot of elbow grease, but worth it. It takes a while, but I am not done yet. Rebecca said it would be worth the cost to just buy new hinges, it would save me a lot time. But heck, I can get stubborn and painting them makes me feel better. (Rebecca editing to add: If you ever wonder about the difference between the two of us, just know she sands and paints hinges and I buy hinges.)

Now to our get away trip to Branson. All of us had such a good time together. I enjoyed the grandkids so much, we played card games and used the hot tub a lot. On Saturday we went to Silver Dollar City. Gosh, it had been at least fifteen years since I had been. Upon entering, I wanted to rent a scooter. Heck no was everyone's response. I just knew there was a lot of walking involved and my feet were already tired hoofing it to the entrance from the parking lot. I didn't get a scooter (although there were A LOT of people using them. I did better walking all day than I expected. Even Rebecca and the kids were surprised. Me too! (Rebecca editing to add: Even if she had two broken feet, she’s the last person I would let use a scooter in a crowded place. She would run over people or back into people or honk at people. In any scenario, it wouldn’t end well.)

Saturday, we ate at Paula Deen's restaurant. What a huge disappointment. The food was tasteless, the waiter was rude, and there were a lot of actual size cut outs of Paula Deen everywhere! How tacky! I cannot imagine cut outs of Rebecca and I in our pie shops. I would be embarrassed. She is known for her southern cooking, but that must have been a long ago. The restaurant had the feel of a cafeteria and the food was spot on. Certainly not fresh from the kitchen. (Rebecca editing to add: Good thing Paula Deen doesn’t read here.)

The only good that came out of eating at her restaurant was that it was located in Branson Landing. Great shops and a wonderful store that sold moonshine. I came home with several bottles! Some night in the future that I happen not be able to sleep, I now have a moonshine drink to put me to sleep! (Rebecca editing to add: She is the only person I know to pre-plan a bedtime moonshine cocktail.)

The weekend passed away too fast, and we came home Sunday. Rebecca and I were both anxious to pick up our dogs and get home. This small trip sure felt good just to get away from the everyday stress! (Rebecca editing to add: Agreed. Shoutout to our friends at Creekside Pet Center for taking the best care of Sister and Bud. They leave 5 star Google reviews.)
