Self-Centered
It seems literally impossible to discuss anything but Crime Scene Kitchen, but there are all the normal things going on at PJP that we should discuss so that we all stay caught up. Here we go:
Well, wait - I do have to say that the show premiers tomorrow night at 8 pm. That’s a full hour after Jeanne goes to bed, so I guess she won’t be watching after all. My family is insistent, though I’ll go to extreme measures to not see myself since the camera adds ten pounds. We did partner with Fox 22 to sponsor the show locally, which feels very fancy.
And on Thursday, I’m attending CoMo Magazine's Women of Excellence awards dinner, as I’ve been nominated as a Woman of Excellence in Retail. Since it is prior to her bedtime, Jeanne will actually. be attending this event. Unless it runs late and my category is announced after 6:30 pm because her bedtime is 7 pm and it will take her 30 minutes to get home and change into her pajamas.
Speaking of big occasions, our son graduated from high school last Friday. It is crazy to me that when we started PJP in 2014, he was in fifth grade. It takes a tremendous amount of patience to be a kid of a growing small business. We couldn’t be more proud (and so thankful he will attend Mizzou in the fall). He’s majoring in history, with. an emphasis on world pie domination.
We broke through 10,000 likes on Facebook earlier this week. And for anyone who has ever tried to organically grow an audience of 10,000 followers, you feel me when I say that a lot of blood, sweat, and tears when into that goal over the past seven years.
In PJP West End news, we are working on bids for equipment. At PJP Nifong, we had the luxury of paying $1500 for someone to relocate the equipment from our old Buttonwood location to the new Nifong location (spoiler alert: they rolled it across the parking lot). The sticker shock of an entire store of new equipment still has me shaken. And hey, guess what? No one even knows if equipment can be here by September because of COVID. I’m sure there is a legit reason COVID impacts double stacked convection ovens, but I’m self-centered enough to be annoyed by it.
