The Matriarchy

Well, to start with, thank you SO MUCH for all of your well wishes for Jeanne’s recovery. She loved reading all the comments and said she was so humbled by all the love and attention. She promises to not mow or do crazy Jeanne things - like clean around the toilet base with a razor blade - for the foreseeable future as a thank you to us all. And since that gives me immeasurable peace of mind, I thank each of you from the bottom of my heart.

Here’s some non-bone breaking developments at PJP:

  1. I did forget to mention last night that Jeanne told me that almost every single person working in the Emergency Room immediately recognized her for being Jeanne of Peggy Jean’s Pies. And for her TikTok dancing. I told her fame comes at all levels and she rolled her eyes.

  2. Today I posted an Epic Pie Tasting (Mother’s Day Style) event and it sold out in under 20 minutes. We are going to put our heads together and figure out how we can perhaps accommodate more people, so don’t fret if you missed out this afternoon!

  3. Last night we rolled over 8,000 likes on Facebook. We really love a milestone at PJP, especially a fun milestone like 8,000 friends. In our earliest days, we were approached by companies encouraging us to purchase likes and we declined because it felt sketchy. I’m so happy now to know that all 8,000 of those people are real and honestly enjoy our content.

  4. It looks like business will return to normal in Columbia next Monday. And as someone who has maintained a Kiss Press-On Manicure once a week for the past six weeks, I’m so relieved nail salons are on the list of approved openings. I do have to give credit where credit is due though…the Kiss Press-On people have brought a press-on manicure LIGHT YEARS from the Lee Press On nails of the late 1980s. I don’t know if they are the same company with a rebrand or not, but I have to say…I don’t hate it. In a pinch or in the face of long lines at the nail salon, I’ll totally press-on again. I’m prepared to defend that position.

  5. And finally, I signed up to go back to school. I SUPER LOVE SCHOOL. Clearly, anyone with a Juris Doctorate is a low-key fan of lectures, reading, and homework. I’m going to get a Certificate in Women in Leadership from Cornell University (online, obviously). I have some thoughts and opinions about women leaders, so I’m up for spending the next six months with some experts on the subject. I’m super excited for homework...and to become a better leader for PJP. I hope someone asks me to write a paper. Not even kidding.
