Jeanne-ology: Perspective

For the first time in at least a month, Jeanne is back with her thoughts on the last few weeks. I can’t wait to see what she has to say! Enjoy - Rebecca

Hello Thursday Readers! As you may well know, Rebecca and I have been out of town for the past month. I cannot tell you where or why, but you will soon learn of our adventure. (Rebecca editing to add: You’ll know by late May.)

While it hard on PJP for us to be away, good things came from our absence. Rebecca and I learned a lot and have already started incorporating some changes at the pie shop. Changing the way we do things can be daunting if we and the staff are used to the old routine. However, the staff is eager and I know the new changes will become the usual. (Rebecca editing to add: We did not go to a school or a class, but we learned so much. It will make sense soon.)

My husband did NOT want me to leave for a few weeks. He felt as though he could not take being alone without me. He did great and better at being home alone than he thought! Of course, I knew he would and we stayed in contact as much as possible. He and our dog Sister slept together each night and now Sister is not too happy with me replacing her spot! (Rebecca editing to add: I really didn’t think Jeanne would actually go because her husband had a lot of concerns. She really wanted to go though and I’m so proud of her for doing what she wanted. It’s a good example for women everywhere.)

Rebecca and I had such a great time and really enjoyed each other's company. I cannot remember when we had that much time together, uninterrupted! It reminded me of when she was in her teens, pre -college, pre-boyfriend, pre-law school. We laughed the whole time we were gone. I will never regret going away with her. We experienced so many new things, from different foods and a different culture. I thing I come to discover is that I am a true Missouri girl and appreciate where I live. (Rebecca editing to add: I couldn’t agree more. We had so much fun together. In the midst of our adventure, we laughed until tears rolled down our faces. Those weeks will forever be something I’m thankful for.)

Of course, it felt good to come home to green grass, a loving husband, a dog that missed me, and seeing the grandkids. Thankful for our business, thankful my son-in-law kept the business open while we were away. Thankful for my time with Rebecca and the new things we learned and the immense laughter we shared. I know we were meant to go and in time, the reason will be revealed. (Rebecca editing to add: Well said. We are so fortunate to have so much fun together and also have our people waiting eagerly for our return. Perspective is always refreshing.)
