Just Saying, Jerry
Almost every morning around 11 am, Jerry Wilson from Value Logistics calls and asks if we have any packed pallets we would like to ship before 6 pm. And I have so many questions for Jerry, like what mailing list did he purchase to find my name? And how would one pack pies on a pallet? And according to Jerry, he’s in Atlanta and so if I said yes to immediate pallet shipping needs, then who comes to get it? Because Jerry is like 10 hours a way and he promises prior to 6pm pickup. And of all the possible cold calling telemarketing scenarios, I feel like cold calling bulk shipping is a hard sell. Also, Jerry remains undeterred day after day even though today I said: JERRY, I WILL NEVER HAVE ANY PALLETS TO SHIP.
(I guess never say never. In the unlikely event we have a PJP production facility in the future, Jerry can send me this post with a note that says “I told you so”.)
But I digress. Today we had the most Tuesday of Tuesdays at PJP, really meaning that Jerry’s daily call ranks high in the number of interesting things to report. Both stores were sufficiently busy, plus Ellery, Jason, and I were able to merchandise West after being too busy last week. It certainly didn’t feel like spring outside, but both stores look so cute now in preparation for Easter that we actually stood on the sidewalk and admired our work through the front windows.
Ellery was also on a wave of productivity, making us the cutest poster for our 9th birthday to hang in the windows at both locations. As a spoiler alert, I’ll tell you April’s pie of the month is Cake Batter (and it is DELICIOUS). And then Ellery realized that we were low on menu cards and so she spent a few hours doing a complete redesign. We are terribly thankful that she loves graphic design and that she excels at it because I completely lack the skill or the patience to create beautiful artwork for our brand. Our earliest menu cards feel literal light years away from the beauty of our current card. I love when you can see growth in our brand through the smallest of ways. Elle is a lot of like Jeanne in her creativity (and it flew right by me, except for the words I put together on a page).
Obviously she’s tied to PJP for life, but Jerry might look into some cute advertising graphics for last minute pallet shipping needs instead of just calling around every single day. Just saying, Jerry.
